In improving early management of lower-back pain, advice’s the use of manual therapy, such as osteopathy, Techniques reviewed were

  • spinal manipulation (a low-amplitude, high-velocity movement at the limit of joint range that takes the joint beyond the passive range of movement)
  • spinal mobilisation (joint movement within the normal range of motion)
  • massage (manual manipulation or mobilisation of soft tissues).
  • Recommendations are a course of 9 treatments over a 12-week period.

    Together with provision of structured exercise programme for short and long term management of low back pain.
